The inspiration for Newport's Deco District is the Yaquina Bay Bridge. Designed by Engineer extraordinaire Conde B. McCullough and his team in less than six months, when it opened for traffic on Labor Day 1936, it completely changed Newport and the coast.
Today, the bridge still serves as a vital transportation link for the Oregon Coast... a blend of form, function and aesthetic... the very essence of art deco.

The City Center Newport Assn. is registered with the Oregon Cultural Trust as a cultural non profit organization.
