Construction on the Art Deco Heritage Park has been postponed until Winter 2012, according to Tim Gross, new City of Newport Public Works Director. At the corner of Coast Highway and SW Hurbert, the park - and its' 30 foot tall pylon - will create a dramatic and memorable landmark for Newport and the Oregon Coast. Inspired by the Yaquina Bay Bridge, the design is intended to improve the image of the area to the one million+ annual visitors. |

City Center's very first "real" public restroom is located adjacent to the public parking lot at SW 9th & Hurbert Streets. The art deco style of the new construction is the result of two years of collaboration between the City Center Newport Assn. and the Newport Parks & Recreation Dept. The project was a design challenge due to budget and the City's desire for a 'prison grade' structure. |
